DEEP RESPECT PIPES & DRUMS
Deep Respect P&D is a Dutch band consisting of 14 bagpipers, drummers and support staff and provides musical support at commemorations of the First and Second World Wars in the Netherlands, Belgium and France. Deep Respect wants to keep the story alive of all the people who gave their lives during the wars in which our country was involved or whose lives were taken in the struggle for freedom.
Deep Respect Pipes & Drums plays for freedom, we honor freedom, realizing that it has been fought for very hard on several occasions and that many have made the ultimate sacrifice.
Freedom is not something to be taken for granted… On the contrary… We hope that everyone who gets up every day in freedom realizes that many people have given their lives for this.
Our concern is that as time passes, we forget how our freedom was taken away and what sacrifices were made to regain freedom.
It is not self-evident that we live in freedom… The only thing that can help us preserve and safeguard freedom is historical awareness… Only then we can recognize and avert threats to our freedom at an early stage…
Reimbursements for performances or expenses or donations goes directly to the Association Deep Respect and are spent on activities for veterans and the installation and maintenance of monuments and plaques.
Deep Respect plays a role in small and large organized commemorations, but also plays spontaneously at monuments. The intrinsic motivation to commemorate guides us, not the size or organization of the commemoration.
